WOW! Atmosphere: 5 stars The atmosphere was quiet and nice. It was a nicer restaurant without having the fancier hype inside. Our server seemed down to earth and knew when to talk and when not to. He also kept an eye on us to keep good timing as not to interrupt and interfere... something you don't see much these days. He was very attentive without being one bit annoying. Food: 5 stars The food was amazing! We started with the Smoked Salmon appetizer. It came with course-ground mustard, another sauce, capers, onions, tomatoes, and toast. It was delicious. Our waiter listed the specials, and among them was a Roasted Red Pepper Bisque. It sounded too good, so we shared a cup. I'm glad we did because it was outstanding. It had a very deep and bold flavor and was well seasoned. Oh, we were given a roll too which was great! For dinner I ordered the tenderloin (8-oz). I had heard their mashed potatoes were not very good, so I substituted them for the Parmesan Risotto. Oh my... this was some serious Parmesan Risotto. It was thick, rich, and had strings of cheese with every bite. My steak was so tender, I really didn't even need a knife. It was cooked perfectly and was well seasoned. I ordered with the red wine reduction sauce that paired perfectly with it, and the risotto. It also came with green beans. They were not anything special, but they were good. Hubby had the Grilled Yellow Fin Tuna special. I tired a bite and it was quite good. He seemed to really enjoy it. We had an anniversary cake for later in the evening at home and didn't plan to get dessert, but dinner was so fantastic and we don't know when we will be able to go back, so we decided to do the ultimate splurge and try deserts too. I had the Vanilla Bean Pot de Creme and Bob had the Fudge Cake. Mine came with caramel, chocolate, and raspberry sauces, all of which were homemade (I verified). It didn't need sauce though. It was so rich, smooth, and creamy. The sauces hid the delicate vanilla bean flavor. Good thing all the sauces come on the side! Hubby's cake was more like a brownie. It was over the same raspberry sauce as well as a coffee sauce. I didn't care for the coffee sauce (I don't like coffee), but the cake was pretty rich. It was topped with real whipped cream. Wine: 5 stars The wine list was the biggest reason we went. It was quite extensive, and I liked that you could order by the bottle, half bottle, glass, ounce, or try flights. Pricing: 5 stars The price seemed right on point with the quality of the food and attentiveness of the staff. Menu: 5 stars The menu was not extensive, but large enough to have a good selection. I would definitely be able to go back and order something different a few more times... if I could stay away from the steak. Overall: 5 stars I give it a 5/5! It's near the top of my list for nice restaurant picks so far. It didn't beat out Boulevard Steak House, but it's a close 2nd. I thought it was definitely better overall compared to Nonna's or Mickey Mantle's, which are also very good restaurants.

This place never disappoints! I always get the veal Milanese and share it with my date. If the cucumber soup is in season, I recommend that you try it! Always great service!
For review #200 I wanted to write about somewhere special. It would be hard to find a restaurant in OKC more beloved and dear to my heart than The Metro. I consider any time I can dine there a true treat. So what makes The Metro so great? One word: Consistency. The ambiance, the service, and the food is consistently good. Every time you know those three things are going to be stellar. The ambiance is quaint but elegant. Lots of warm colors, mood lighting, and crisp white table linens for that special touch. I don't know how they do it but the ambiance is equally perfect for a ladies' lunch as it is for a romantic anniversary dinner. The restaurant size is just right; not too big and not too small. There are plenty of intimate tables and little nooks. As for service, from the time you walk in the door you can expect a friendly smile and attentiveness. The wait staff really know the menu so can make recommendations, explain about ingredients, and tell you what they love. Many of the staff, like Leann, have been with The Metro for years and years. It is their home and you can tell they love the place. The Metro does dining right by bringing courses at the appropriate times rather than overlapping them. They never make you feel rushed. And never is a drink empty. Even as new servers come and go, the service is still consistently good. Of course, the real star of any restaurant is the food and The Metro hits it out of the park. Their menu changes seasonally and is French inspired. At times favorites are removed and replaced with new dishes, but the food is, yes once again, consistently delicious. I have so many favorites it is hard to narrow down the highlights! To start, their soups are always superb. Always on the menu is their french onion soup and it is hand down the best in the city. It has hints of thyme and sherry and is crowned with plenty of melty gruyere. It goes perfectly with their complimentary hot, crusty rolls. During the summer months they have a chilled avocado and cucumber soup this is very refreshing and flavorful. I have tried to duplicate the recipe at home but it never is quite the same. One of my favorite entrees is their Parmesan risotto with burgundy beef. It is very hearty and more of a winter dish, but man is it good! The beef is perfectly seasoned and the red wine flavor is pronounced. The crab cakes at The Metro are tasty as well, even for a landlocked state. They top it with a lemon beurre blanc and it pairs wonderfully with the crab laden cake. Actually, all of their seafood is tasty. I frequently order the fresh fish special and have never been disappointed. The lamb at The Metro is another one of my favorites and is expertly prepared. Like I said, I have tried the entire menu and have loved everything. They do food right. And they have a wine menu that perfectly compliments anything on the menu. It really is impressive. Make sure to save room for dessert. Their bread pudding has been their signature dessert for ages. I remember eating it when I was a little girl and would join my parents for dinner. I typically don't order bread pudding at restaurants, and I hate raisins, but theirs is worth ordering. It is boozy with the rum sauce and the vanilla anglaise is to die for! I always ask for extra sauce. I also love the vanilla pot de creme and order it with all three sauces (chocolate, raspberry, and carmel) for dipping. Their lemon tart is lovely as well. I could go on and on. Truly The Metro is probably my favorite restaurant in the metro. I can't think of a place more deserving of five stars in every single aspect and I can't recommend them enough.

Nice place with an unsuspecting appearance from the outside. I'm not from OKC and didn't know what to expect when pulling in. But once you open you doors you see this slightly hidden gem. The service was excellent and allowed our group time to chat and work on business while not being too much of a bother (they still have to do their jobs!) I'm not a upscale eater, but I had the pork chop which was cooked very well and seasoned the way i like it. The salads were fresh and everything they needed to be. They had a nice selection of wine and it was reasonably priced. They had a bar, but didn't get a chance to see what all they had to offer. No complaints

Lovely dinner with very superb service. Had the chilled cucumber and avocado soup. For a main course- short ribs with Kim chi and bao buns. Incredibly attentive service with excellent wine and food suggestions.

I always enjoy the atmosphere here. I've been here ten times for lunches and dinners. The service is excellent. The food is interesting and well prepared. The wine list is outstanding. The cauliflower steak entree was my favorite vegetarian dish. I always love their risotto and seafood entrees too.

The food is good, the atmosphere is better but the clientele are the best. This is THE lunch spot for Nichols Hills and OKC ladies who lunch. They do not disappoint. It is socialite city so it is the perfect place to see and be seen. The menu is outstanding and the service is excellent.

Held a business lunch at Metro today. Impeccable service, and perfect setting for a lunch meeting. The glazed salmon, asparagus and green beans were perfectly cooked! Presentation was beautiful and matched the ambience. Dessert anyone? The lemon tart with raspberry and cream is incredible. Light, fluffy crust to die for! Never had to ask for a thing. The waiter is discreet, intuitive and exudes customer service!

I love the Metro! My only complaint, since my husband & I go out to eat for lunch & not dinner, is that they aren't open for lunch on Saturdays. It's too far from my office for me to make it for a normal weekday lunch so it's usually only the rare Holiday, like Veteran's Day today, that we can enjoy lunch at the Metro. I have to agree with Julie's review about the price, food quality & service. Everyone thinks The Metro is so much more expensive than other places but it's not. We spent about the same amount for lunch yesterday at The Wedge for their wonderful lunch special pizza/salad combos, 2 sodas & a gelato as we spent today at The Metro. We love that you always start with a hot fresh baked roll, whatever variety they made that day. That takes the edge off of my husband's hunger while we wait for our food to arrive, not that it took very long at all. The food quality is outstanding & so is the service! I ordered the open faced grilled salmon sandwich that came with watercress, thin carrot slices & soy Sriacha aioli. I asked the waitress about the sauce & she asked if I was a spice weenie! Exactly, so when I said "yes", she said she would have them put the sauce on the side for me. That was perfect! I sampled & found that the spice level was good for me but I liked controlling exactly how much I got with each bite. My sandwich came with fresh fruit - a bunch of grapes, 2 orange sliced, 2 pineapple slices & 2 strawberries. Everything was delicious! My husband also commented that my meal was healthier than his since he got the Reuben sandwich that came with French fries. The Metro is a very relaxing place to dine. Even though we were both wearing jeans today while other diners were dressed nicer, we weren't the only casual dressers, didn't feel out of place & weren't treated any differently than the rest of the customers, including the previous lieutenant governor of this state. Oh, one last thing about the price - with a KeepItLocal card, you get a 10% discount, excluding alcohol, for up to 2 people per card. Treat yourself to a relaxing dining experience with great food & service!

Very pleased with food and service. I was flying into OKC, and I made a reservation for 9:00 pm on a Monday night based on Yelp reviews. My flight was late, and I arrived late to the restaurant. I was the only one in the restaurant. I felt guilty about keeping everyone there, but the staff was really welcoming and accommodating. I had the breaded and pan-fried veal cutlet, and it was excellent.

I just had a tremendous lunch at The Metro. One of my favorite clients brought me. This is a great neighborhood for starters with shopping, local eateries, bars. I love this area of OKC. I ordered the squash and apple bisque for starters. The taste was fresh and comforting on this cold day. My main was the shrimp and scallops with risotto seasoned with ginger and cilantro. What stood out was the freshness of the seafood and not overcooked. So often, that's the case. We wrapped it up with an expresso and pecan praline ice cream. The ice cream is made on premises and was fantastic. Creamy, great flavor, I sensed a liquor. Yes, I messed up my diet today and had ice cream, but it was worth the splurge! A great spot in OKC!

Enjoyed my one and only meal at the Metro for a business lunch yesterday. I'll certainly be a returning customer as it was a terrific experience. Started out with complimentary bishop rolls that were the perfect temperature. Added plenty of butter that melted in nicely - great warm up snack. For me entree I went with crab cakes, which were better than I expected. Great atmosphere and great service. 5 star experience
I had the flounder it was ok. I did enjoy goat cheese watermelon salad starter and bread pudding for dessert. My husband had salmon. Our guest had Sunday three course dinner for 28 dollars which is a good deal and the chicken angel hair pasta dish. The wine and drinks were good. Nice setting and easy to talk.

Last night we went out to dinner at The Metro Wine Bar & Bistro. We made a reservation (because we absolutely HATE waiting), and I'm glad that we did, because when we got there at 8 pm on a Thursday night the place was pretty full. Our friends had gotten there a couple minutes before us, and they had already been seated. We got a nice little booth tucked away in a quiet corner of the restaurant. Despite the fact that we are usually all whiskey drinkers, we felt obligated to have wine (come on...we were at a WINE BAR...it's in the name...), so we told our waitress (I believe her name was Kat) what we liked and she suggested a modestly priced bottle of Gobelsburger Riesling for $38. I'm usually skeptical of Riesling because they can be super sweet, but this one was pretty dry. I started with the lamb potstickers as an appetizer. They were quite good, but looked more like shumai than pot stickers. They were served with a tamarind "ketchup" which was just the right amount of tangy without being overwhelming. We ended up finishing our bottle of wine with the appetizers, so we decided to switch to whiskey for dinner - we were all having different things for dinner, and couldn't find a specific wine that "fit" with all of our main courses. I had some 12 year Glenfiddich...which was yummy...and Bashar tried Dalwhinnie, a single malt scotch whiskey. He liked it, but I prefer my Glen... For dinner, I had the filet of beef with a truffle butter sauce. I also had a side of garlic fries, with a little extra truffle butter on the side to dip the fries in. This in theory would allow me to have truffle fries, which is one of my absolute favorite types of fries. I forgot to take a photo, so no image here to make you all salivate...I think the chef used garlic salt to make said "garlic fries" and some black pepper, but it ended up making the fries overly salty. We decided to forgo dessert because we had donuts waiting for us at home...but because Kat, our waitress, wrote down someone's appetizer order wrong, and put ice in her whiskey when she ordered it "neat," brought us out a complimentary dessert. She brought us her favorite,Vanilla Bean Pot de Crème with chocolate sauce. It was surprisingly light and refreshing, and garnished with blackberries. We kind of destroyed it...and then went home for homemade donuts... All in all, Metro was a hit, but it won't be our go-to place...it's a tad bit expensive for a weekly trip...but definitely good, and didn't disappoint!

Most consistently good food and service in OKC. We had one poor service experience in 5 years and it was handled promptly by the management. The food has never disappointed. Great spot for a romantic evening, or dinner with friends. Excellent port selection, which happens to be a favorite of mine and the hubs.

The Metro is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant and is my go-to spot for a delicious, well prepared business or social lunch. Metro is cozy and has both open and booth seating. I love the booths and when I remember, I request one. I admit, I am a bread aficionado. The bread at Metro is excellent and can easily be made into a meal - it is hot, with a chewy texture and crust that is deliciously flaky. The staff is top-notch and very attentive. This coupled with a very consistent kitchen makes for a reliable and tasty dining experience. Check out Metro for lunch or dinner - it is a delight!

It has been so long since I visited this wonderful restaurant? Why on earth did I go years between visits? I think growing up I thought it was sooo fancy. Now I realize, I can spend almost as much at somewhere that is half as nice if I'm not paying attention. I think I'll skip a few mediocre meals elsewhere in favor of the Metro more often! The food is second to none. Last night, I tired a little bit of everyone's having only ordered the Caesar and the crab cake myself. I sampled the salmon (perfection), the filet (to die for), the pork tenderloin with chutney (just as good as I remember; this was one of my favorites growing up), and the parmesan risotto with beef, which may be one of the most delicious bites I've ever had (though I was glad I just had bites as alone it would have been too rich for me to eat an entire meal of just this). I feel like this dish is perfect for sharing, especially if you're here on a budget, be that caloric or cash. We had some truly wonderful wine, but I don't know what it was because I didn't order it and I didn't even look. We also had the vanilla pot de creme with carmel, chocolate and raspberry dipping sauces, the bread pudding and the chocolate torte. Every bite was superb, but I would give up almost all other sweets on earth for my beloved pot de creme. Especially when paired with a tawny port. Barring the Coach House, there is no better service in town; every move and comment is trained for, thought about, and then executed with precision. The ambience is absolutely that of removing you completely from the pedestrian attributes of our city -- you're almost immediately unaware as to your location. You could be in New York, or Yountville or even a Parisian bistro. The lighting, the art on the walls, it's the opposite of the chains and fast food and barbecue and casual dining that are our normal purview. So much so that you linger, not wanting to leave at the end of the night. Of course the waiters are too lovely to suggest that while you don't have to go back to the 'burbs, you needn't stay here. I'll be back. Probably at the cost of several less-lovely spots on my current dance card - I won't make the mistake again of only going here for the most special of occasions.

The Metro never disappoints. A relatively small menu, but still is OKC's smartest cuisine, consistently executed. Expert wait staff. Casual, big-city feel at an Okie pace and price. Top 3 in OKC metro.

Wonderful place, we came in on a Friday night without reservations, seated at the bar, the service is excellent, and the food was perfect. Love the atmosphere, it's a long way from home for us, but worth the drive and will be going back.

"We had to go to Oklahoma City to find French food that we expected in Paris" was my wife's comment as were leaving. We were visiting older parents in OKC and I decided to avoid Brick Town and my father-in-law's plain chicken breast by finding a good restaurant. Upon arrival at their home, my fil suggested a brew pub, but when my mil heard "Metro" she was all in. Enough background... We arrived at 7:00PM and they had our reservation. We were seated in a corner which suited me since I was still in my driving attire (i.e. shorts) and didn't want to be seen by OKC's upper crust. The place is very nicely decorated and has a great vibe. Our waitress came over quickly to get drink orders, but I asked about bottles of wine. Their wine list is very extensive, but does run towards the high end. The waitress took a long time to return to get the order. This was the only service issue of the night. Otherwise, we were well attended. I ordered a Sangiovese (Californian for 50). Very nice. The parents wanted to split an entree and salad, but were concerned that the restaurant would be offended. The waitress overheard and said that they could do anything. That was very nice. In the end, I suggested getting two entrees since they wanted different ones anyways. Again, the waitress said that those would be great as leftovers. A nice touch in a higher end restaurant. The bread was hot and fresh. I like doughy bread and that is exactly what they serve. Yum... We had the beet salad and the metro salad. Both were fine for sharing and both had excellent flavor using fresh ingredients. For dinners, fresh fish (sushi grade) served rare with a great citrus sauce. Steak frites which had excellent flavor (not a cheap cut). My only disappointment was no sauce ( listed on website, but not on menu). Would have loved a little bearnaise... A chicken pasta dish was EXCELLENT. The sauce had just the right amount of alcohol flavor. The pork tenderloin must have been good since my fil didn't talk while eating and he ate more than I've seen ever. For desert, we had Key lime pie and a sampler. The keylime pie was excellent. The others ok... All in all, one great meal and better than we just had in Paris...

Loved everything about this little gem of a restaurant....food, service and atmosphere were fabulous! Lunch consisted of a delicious bowl of cool cucumber & avocado soup that was creamy and perfectly seasoned, I also enjoyed their very own in-house smoked & cured salmon atop a fresh and delicious Cobb salad. Top that off with delicious bread & you too will need a nap. Happy eating & thanks Metro!

I've found the fountain of youth. Well... err... I've found a way to make yourself FEEL young, if you so desire. That's right, it's as easy as heading over to the Metro Wine Bar because you'll be surrounded by individuals at least twice your age, instantly making you feel young again... unless of course you happen to be one of those older individuals, in which case, have you ever considered the osteology museum? Bazinga. Ok, that may have been a bit harsh, but in all reality, the atmosphere at the Metro is quite lovely. It's clean and intimate vintage style at it's best. It can get a bit crowded, but that's merely a sign that you're in the right place because the food is just so good. I'm a sucker for smoked salmon, and their smoked salmon appetizer hits the the mark. The delicious smoked salmon is accompanied by toast, grainy mustard, a dill sauce, and a boatload of tomatoes, onions, and capers. When I say boatload, it's meant literally, as the toppings come in perfect little lettuce boats. Nice touch. We've also tried the saffron risotto with shrimp and scallops as well as the parmesan risotto with braised beef, and I'm happy to report that they've got their risotto down pat. Both risottos were rich and creamy, cooked perfectly. If you're in the mood for seafood, the Spanish inspired flavors of the perfectly cooked shrimp and scallops would be the choice for you. And if you're leaning towards more of a rich, tender stew of beef that melts in your mouth, you can't go wrong with the burgundy braised beef. No complaints in the flavor department here. The Metro also has a solid selection of wines to choose from (hence the "wine bar" classification in the name, ooooh). The prices are a bit high to make this a once-a-week restaurant, but the food is absolutely tasty enough to merit going that often. If you haven't already, try this place out - keep it local. Overall Grade: A+

Pretty solid spot out in OKC. We downed 3 bottles of one of my favorite reds, The Prisoner (I'm still amazed they had that in OKC), and shared a number of better than okay apps. I go the pork chop, which was slightly above par, but could have been a little more tender. yelp.com/biz_photos/W26o… I wouldn't mind going back.

This is a true gem in the land of Chicken Fried Steaks and well Steaks. The atmosphere is nice, quiet, and upscale. A nice place for a date or business lunch? (Not sure if open at lunch). They have an eclectic and what appears to be changing menu. I had the Red Snapper. It was incredible. I would have expected to have had a dish like this on either the coasts or the gulf. It had a cream sauce with a vegetable medley under it. Very good. I also had the side salad with blue cheese sprinkle and dressing. It was perfect. No brown lettuce like I have found at a few steak places in OK. The wine selection was very good. There were several good to great options on the menu. I was a bit under the weather, so I passed. This is another restaurant I will return to in OKC!
My husband and I were visiting OKC for the first time and decided to spend our Saturday night dining at The Metro - so glad we did! Atmosphere: Though we were younger than most diners there (we're in our late 20s) the atmosphere was light and fun and we were surrounded by lots of couples and groups of friends who looked like they were having a good time. Food: We shared the crab cakes, which were very good, my husband got the duck (on special) and he LOVED it, and I got the pork tenderloin which was excellent (the polenta that came on the side was insanely delicious). We had the bread pudding for dessert. It was good, but not the best ever (I'd still re-order it though!) Wine: Great selection and seemed to be priced very fairly. Service: Trevar was an awesome server. Friendly and efficient, and not at all stuffy.

Came here as a second choice (The Mantel in Bricktown had a 2 hr wait - no resv.). Was glad that we ate here instead - as the atmosphere was much better (less casual) and the wine better and meal just as much a culinary experience for much less $$. The cold cucumber & avocado soup was to die for. I got the Spring seasonal menu item of Cumin-crusted Pork Chop, and it was a flavor sensation. My business associate got the ruby snapper dinner and was equally impressed. Highly recommended.

My wife and I ate here for the first time last week. It was our first night out since she had our second child. The food, atmosphere, and service was top notch. We are looking forward to our second visit. While our veal milanese and her fish were excellent, we cannot wait to explore the rest of the menu. I am not a fan of bread pudding but at my wife's urging we ordered a serving. Wow! We ordered a second serving to take home. If you have not eaten here, try it. You will be very happy you did.

Loved the wine. Loved the apetizer - small salad was probably 1/2 cup of lettuce - Payed $50 for a salad, apetizer and 2 glasses of wine- much more than I can afford

Delicious food, older crowd. Food is pricey but the service and comfortably elegant ambiance make this location a treat. We had a 3 course meal including wine and found the prices comparable with other highly rated restaurants in the area. The lamb chops were perfectly cooked and cedar plank salmon was amazing. We topped off our meal with the bread pudding and a cappuccino and left happily. Been here another time and had the burgundy beef with parmesean risotto and was equally satisfied.

I have had several great meals here, and to be honest, this is one of my favorite spots in town. Wonderful ambience, a solid wine list, delicious apps, specials that keep you coming back for more, and terrific desserts. I know a lot of people knock on the ambience, mainly because of the clientele. I suppose one has to expect the fact that Nichols Hills is going to be one of the main suppliers of clients for a restaurant located just outside of Nichols Hills, but maybe that's just me. Either way, get to know some of them, you never know who you're going to meet. The rest of the restaurant is wonderful. It's low lighting provides just the right feel for a cozy date. Now, the food. Oh, the food. I try to get something new every time I go, especially since they took my favorite thing off the menu (duck), so I've been forced to shop around the menu. Not that I'm saying that's a bad thing, at all! Quite to the contrary actually. I easily had the best meal to date during my last trip in. The chefs had cooked up a beautiful 8 oz. filet with a port wine reduction sauce, served over a bed of whipped garlic potatoes, roasted asparagus, and potato wedges, with a piece of seared foie gras to boot. If you're salivating right now, don't be concerned, it's totally normal. If you finish that terrific meal off, make sure you save some space for the bread pudding and a hit of espresso, it will be the perfect way to close out a great meal. If I could give the team at The Metro one piece of advice, it would be to keep up the great work, and keep creating terrific dishes.

I wish all the other fine dining restaurants in OKC could send their servers here for lessons on good service, because Metro's servers have got it down! I'm definitely a repeat customer. There are so many places I still want to try, and yet I keep asking to come back here for date night. I love that the servers are so knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. I have had many enjoyable wine flights here. What really stole my heart? The risotto. They nail it every single time. But really, everything I have had has been great-love the salmon. I always manage to finish my plate even though I over eat the delicious fresh bread they put out on the table!

On a business trip out to Oklahoma, a local took us out for dinner here. We started with Metro Smoked Salmon and Lamb Potstickers as appetizers. The Smoked Salmon came with a different number of sauces and other condiments to eat with the Salmon. When we finished the toast points and there was still fish left, they just added more without us asking. The Lamb Potstickers were just ok. The waiter had told us it comes with three but would add another for an extra charge so everyone at the table would be able to enjoy one. For the main entree, I ordered their Saffron Risotto with Shrimp & Scallop. The other people ordered the Fillet of Tilapia, Chicken Breast with Vermouth Cream, and the Grilled USDA Prime Fillet of Beef. Everything seemed to turn out great but for some reason I didn't like my dish. The scallop seemed chewy and overcooked, the sauce didn't really have any taste besides being creamy. The other people liked their dishes so maybe it was just what I ordered. In any case, the atmosphere was very pleasant and the wait staff very attentive to our needs.

This place is fabulous. What a GREAT find in OKC! I loved it so much that I went back the second night I was in town to try a few more items. First of all, pay no attention to the "formal attire" designation. There are white tablecloths. But, it is not that formal at all. I was there in jeans and a t-shirt and had a wonderful time sitting at the bar. The wine list is spectacular (especially for Oklahoma, I would think). I LOVED the beet salad as well as the Ahi tuna appetizer with the wasabi sorbet. YUM! I also enjoyed the lamb potstickers ... very interesting tamarind sauce. The house salad left a lot to be desired, I must say. It was as if someone had dressed it in a 105 degree kitchen three hours earlier.

Interesting that all the reviews are from out of towners. I have eaten here several times over the years and it is always pretty good. My only complaint is having to sit with a bunch of 70 year old nichols hills regulars. I shouldn't be so harsh but I try to avoid this crowd for the most part. I usually get a steak and they are always flavorful. I love butter on top of a steak and that is a standard option off the menu. They also have a seasonal menu that has some fairly interesting things. Recently had pumpkin pie ice cream and locally roasted coffee for desert and that was really nice.

Definitely an older crowd, but the food is tasty and the service top notch. Very nice for a work lunch. I do wish you could get the dinner "Steak & Frites" at lunch. The steak is flavorful and tender, the garlic fries are out of this world. At lunch, however, I like to order the chicken sandwich that is served on a very soft hoagie roll. The desserts are small, so unless you want a very small taste, don't plan to split. I made the mistake of splitting the trio thinking it would be enough for two - it was literally one bite of three different items. Tiny.

WOW what a Mother's Day Brunch!!! Mom was impressed and the kids (10, 9, and 4) loved their selection, Pancakes. We (Mom and Dad) had 2 choices, Strip Steak or Cedar Plank Salmon. Both were outstanding the the sides were awesome and a great compliment to each entree. Service was top notch and our waitress really took care of the kids, which is always a plus!!! We recommend if you have never been to the Metro then you should get by there soon.

This was an awesome little place we stopped at for lunch a while back. There were 10 of us and they were very accomodating of our size. The food is top-notch, especially for someone used to Los Angeles and I can't really complain about the service because, hello! there were 10 of us. What really struck me about this place was the wine list. Not just a great selection, but the opportunity to buy by the bottle, glass, or ounce! I got an ounce of a few wines I wanted to just taste and a glass of a very good little Pino Grigio to go with my lunch. Perfection. The menu is sort of a French-inspired fine dining. There was a cucumber-avocado-jalapeno gaspacho that I died for (they gave me the recipe, too!) and many fine salads were had by all. There were some tasty-looking pasta dishes that we ended up not getting because we thought we just wanted a small lunch (it was a late lunch, around 2) since we had dinner plans. I had a meal-sized ahi salad, my husband had a meal-sized insalata Caprese, and all of us agreed that it was a place to return to!

I have been going to The Metro since it opened and I ate their last night, so I go to thinking why haven't I reviewed one of my favorite places to go? I have become a very critical person when it comes to going out to eat. Too often I spend $100 or more for two people and I ask myself, what sensual enjoyment did I get for that and was the food outstanding. Most of the time now the answer is no. This is where The Metro stands out. Rarely over the course of many many years can I say that The metro was not on top of their game and with exceptional service and atmosphere, and last night was no exception. The salmon and the escolar were done to perfection, the angel hair onion rings were a great start, the beet salad was delicious, and the wine list has some great bargains including a Malbec at $7.50 a glass that was a full bodied and fruit forward delight. My girlfriend and I split out appetizers, salad, and entree, had wine and the bill was $70 with a healthy tip included. I walked out satisfied and pleasantly full. I highly recommend that you look at their seasonal menu that changes for some creative choices. If you are looking for a consistent, moderate to expensive, restaurant where dining is a pleasure, then The Metro is your place and for me an Oklahoma City standard for quality.

This place is the real deal. Aside from shaking my manhattan as opposed to stirring it, I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised for a suburban OKC restaurant. Beet salad rivaled some of the best I've had and was large. Veal chop (special) also excellent. Squash and cauliflower purées reminded me of one of my wife's specialties. Ambiance is subdued. Nice marble bar for solo diners and imbibers; crowd clearly indicated this was a special occasion place. If you are a foodie, check out this place.

(4)Daniel B.

Bad day? Go self-medicate at The Metro. I promise, you'll get over it. Sit at the bar if you're alone and chat up the bartender. He's nice. Let him pour you a drink. It's what you came for. The vegetarian "Burger & Tots"- a stack of eggplant, spinach, portobello, tomato jam, and more- is big. Cut it in half and take the rest to go. Linger. Finish up with a nice glass of port and crack into that delicious crème brûlée. Share it. You're welcome.

Fine dining at its very best. Went here with my girlfriend for my. The food was amazing, the service was top notch, and the ambiance was perfect. We will definitely be back again.

(5)Cheryl E.

(5)Mickey T.
The Metro never disappoints. A relatively small menu, but still is OKC's smartest cuisine, consistently executed. Expert wait staff. Casual, big-city feel at an Okie pace and price. Top 3 in OKC metro.
(5)Paul S.
Excellent cuisine, attentive service. I had the beet salad which was huge and delicious. For meal, tried the Parmesan risotto with beef and loved it.
(4)Paula A.

(5)Tina M.

One of my favorite places for lunch. Great food and excellent service. The atmosphere is cozy and a good chance from loud and crowded restaurants.

Overall Grade: A+
(5)Eli G.

I grew up going to The Metro and I'm sure that I have eaten there close to a 100 times throughout my life but for some reason I have never reviewed it. It opened as a more casual alternative to The Coach House and over the years it has grown up and become more refined while still holding true to its original mission: delicious food in a casual environment. Their wine by the glass list changes every few months and there is always a great selection. They really see themselves as a wine bar and thus the servers can go into great detail about all of the wines available by the glass. They also have a pretty stellar wine list and a great selection of liquors. I have eaten at most of the other restaurants similar to The Metro in OKC (The Mantle, La Baguette, Nonna's, Deep Fork) and the quality of the food, the presentation and service simply cannot be beat. The owners have a lot of passion for this restaurant and have been in the restaurant business for the last thirty or so years. They understand the importance of great service and attention to detail, something that many restaurants opened nowadays lack. Over the years I have tried almost everything on the menu and here are few of my favorites: Appetizers: Metro Smoked Salmon- they smoke it perfectly and it comes with capers, tomatoes, minced onion, dill sauce and a country mustard. I will have to say, though, that I miss the toast points that it used to come with 4 or 5 years ago. Ahi Tuna- it is a very fun dish. The wasabi sorbet will throw you. It is meant to tease your palette, not fill you up. Crab cakes- they are not the best crab cakes in the world but for Oklahoma City they are pretty stellar. I often order these as an entrée with a side of fries. Onion rings/fries- The onion rings are fantastic, very thin, crispy- I suggest ordering a 1/2 order, it will still be a ridiculous amount. Their fries are perfect. They come with a delicious aioli. I could eat these every day. You must order them. Soups/salads: In the summer the cucumber avocato soup is refreshing and devine. In the winter go for the butternut squash and apple bisque, it warms you up quite well. Vichyssoise- it is classic. When I was a kiddo they had potato and leek bisque on the menu and when I am feeling nostalgic I ask them to serve the vichyssoise warm. French Onion Soup- I've never had better french onion soup in my life. I lived in Paris for 6 months and this one rivals all of the potages a l'oignon I had while living there. Faites-moi confiance (trust me)!! Caesar salad- as a kid I would only eat caesar salad and The Metro never disappointed me. They do a great job, with lots of freshly shaved parmesan. Beet salad- one of my favorite things to have. Very different from most beet salads, if you love beets you'll be happy, no doubt! Entrées - Chicken Fricassee- my mother always orders this. It is well prepared and very traditional. Cedar Plank Salmon- without a doubt my favorite thing on the menu. It was actually on the Deep Fork menu and then when they sold that restaurant they moved it to The Metro. Simply perfection. They will let you switch out the starch and if they have the layered potatoes (can't remember the actual name) or the garlic polenta I would suggest changing as their whipped potatoes are ok but nothing to write home about. Steak-frittes- well done, great price, delicious. Desserts: Crème Brulée- Yet again, after living and traveling all over France I can tell you that they execute this dish better than a lot of bistros/restaurants in France do. Definitely better than the average bistro in France. Metro Bread Pudding- delicious. very heavy but if you like bread pudding or bourbon then you won't be disappointed. You might think this is overkill but ask for a side of whipped cream, it really goes well with this dish. Chocolate Fudge Cake- I put this one on here because I can never truly decide if I like it or not. I think I enjoy two or three bites of it but after that I start to get annoyed with it. Make sure you ask for extra whipped cream with this one too! Lemon - White Chocolate Cheesecake- a delicious cheesecake, the cheesecake has a layer of lemon curd on top, topped with white chocolate shavings. The only negative part of this dessert in my opinion is the crust. I never eat it but then again I feel like I am saving calories so it doesn't upset me too much. Mixed Berry Sorbet- this came from The Coach House. If you don't feel like having any dessert this is the perfect thing. It goes well with some sweet dessert wine. And be sure to ask what ice creams they have, they are always amazing. Lemon Tart- My mother was so happy when they brought this back. It is too sour for my tastes but she claims that it is perfection. Other random tips: their bread is amazing and they bake it throughout the night so it is always fresh from the oven. They make a great brandy ice too. They serve an amuse bouche on Friday and Saturday night.

Great food, wine list, staff, atmosphere. Everything about this place is really amazing. It'd be the perfect place for a special date. The end.

The Metro Wine Bar & Bistro has never disappointed me. I don't have anything to complain about. The service and food are lovely.

I swear the potatoes were instant. Wine list was fantastic service is great just couldn't get over the instant mashed potatoes.

Love this place! The food never disappoints. I love that they have other exciting options besides steak.

One of my old favorites over the years. The Creme' Brul'ee is worth making a special dessert trip for! But anything they ever placed in front of me - I LOVED. Lot's of great memories here. Amazing place.
